DEFEND YOUR BUSINESS AND HOW BUSY YOU WERE! Fine!! My ONLY POINT WAS; DO NOT SAY YOU\'RE GOING TO DO SOMETHING AND NOT DO IT!! IT\'S BAD BUSINESS!! IF YOU CANNOT COME THRU FOR SOMEONE OR MAKE A SCHEDULE APPT, THEN PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE AND CALL!! DONT SCHEDULE AN APPT FOR 9am MONDAY, AND DO A \"NO SHOW\" and NO PHONE CALL, AND NEVER RETURN MESSAGES LEFT! We are a business too, and you of all people would understand, time is money! I wasted time & money waiting for you because you said you\'d be out! I was waiting and calling and waiting some more.
Write stuff down if you can\'t remember what you promised, because you lapsed on this one!I\'d like to start off by saying that the gentleman I spoke to on the phone about 4 - 5 times was very nice and seemed accommodating in the beginning. I believe his name was JP?? Anyway, he said they were busy the first time we spoke but he\'d tried to move us up the list since we were local, and to contact him again in 2 weeks. I did so. He acted like we never spoke. He said the same line, about I\'ll move you up since you\'re local. Ok great. So when can you come out? Nothing was set in stone, just an approximation. It was Thursday. He asked that I\'d give home a call on Monday. I did. I said I really need someone out here bc it\'s only getting worse and you have given me the confidence that you\'re gonna come through for me. He told me that the following Monday he\'d send a guy out to inspect. We agreed upon 11am. He had the address and my number, plus the commercial property name. Never heard from him all day on Monday. Never saw a Roofer at the property. I called multiple times in the morning. Nothing. Then again at 2:30. They weren\'t answering the phones. I left a message. Where are you guys? I waited at the property for 2 hours, while trying to call. Still no answer. They close at 3:30 btw. That\'s a joke. Either way, my call was never returned. It\'s now Tuesday. No call. No answer on their line. Left a message again. Call never returned. Just don\'t over promise and under deliver. You wasted 3 + weeks of me waiting when I should\'ve called someone else.
And don\'t comment for other users to read every time someone makes a negative remark. It\'s clearly true. Why would I go out of my way & spend all this time to speak bad about a business?!! You replying, only makes you look like to other Yelp users that you\'re in the wrong and rude. Also, a way to lose business.
For as long as your business has been around, your customer service should be better than that. They\'d be ashamed of how you treat the customers now! Giving them a bad rep! And don\'t rely on the amount of years, because Yelp didn\'t exist back then!! Now people know the truth. Yelp can destroy a business quickly. Word of mouth is far more powerful than you know!

A neighbor of mine had used them to replace their roof. Since we had a leak in ours, I called them as well. They told me I also had to replace my roof. I thought it was fishy that we both needed a new roof, so I got another quote. I was able to repair it for 10% of what a new roof would have cost. I would not trust them!

Slater is the best. They do good work and anyone who says otherwise I fell may not know roofing. They put on the original roof in 2000 and it\'s been absolutely fine until
this crazy downpour of rain for weeks. Finally, I need work but Slater came right away and workers are kind and polite (and speak English!!)
and John the owner was very accommodating. Highly recommend as these guys are professional!

Roof leaked in my living room after the 2nd to the last rains this year. And yes, I have an eye witness that saw it. The leak caused a painting from a famous artist to fall to the floor and break the glass, damage the frame and the painting.
I should have said this originally. They also stole my roof TV antenna.
I should have posted photos originally, which I\'m doing now

Slater Roofing was recommended to us by a friend. We knew going in to the purchase of our home that we would have to replace the roof. It\'s Spanish style, so both flat and tile portions. We got several bids. John came personally to take a look at our roof and provided a bid promptly. He was not the lowest price but he was the most thorough in his documentation of the work that was to be done. He advocating saving as much of the usable tiles as possible, rather than only putting on new tiles, which was what the other folks suggested. We very much liked his idea even though it was more labor intensive because we felt like it would preserve the authentic look of the home. His price was all inclusive whereas other folks told us that they would charge us for additional plywood they had to lay down for any issues they found - it appeared others might be pricing low only to have the amount go up while the work was happening. With John we knew he promised the price would be the price. As he was the highest bid he worked with us a bit on the price and he also agreed to add coping tile to the garage in a spot where it didn\'t previously exist. His team came right on time the first day of the scheduled job. They were here every day for the five days we were told the project would take. They appeared to be working hard and diligently. They took great pains to be clean. They were very polite and very reliable. The job was finished by the end of the week, as promised.I have trouble reconciling these one star reviews others have given with the experience we had. Despite being recommended to us, I did check yelp regarding Slater and was almost scared off by these other folks. Don\'t be scared off.
