Who can tell me the best way to seal a flat roof? It's for my grandmother's house and my Dad is just too heavy to get up there, so I'm going to do it.

It's kind of laborious but it can be done. Get up to the roof and check all the seams first, put chalk or a bit of paint where there might be problems. Get a broom and sweep the roof too, so any debris is cleared. If there are any problem areas, then put roofing cement on those and trowel it down. You can put strips of patching material on now too. Make sure it's all even and any gaps are filled. Let the cement dry in. Now, you can apply the sealant all over the roof, start from the corners and apply with a roller.

You know what? You can absolutely seal a flat roof yourself and don't worry about it. No, really, people forget that working on a roof is dangerous! You want something to be right for your grandmother's house - why don't you and your father get together and pay for the sealing to be done? Why do people always think they can do as good a job as a professional? It really bugs me out. Hiring someone won't cost that much, and they already know exactly what to do.

I'm kind of with the guy above. You pay around $875 on average to have your roof sealed. I know that's a big chunk of money for some people, but surely between yourself, your father and your grandmother you can get it between you? It's about safety first and foremost but also having the job done properly. If you've never done it before, you don't really know what you're looking for.

This video is a little long, but it has all the points in it, plus it's better to know exactly what you're doing. So, here you go and hope it all works out. Your Dad better buy you a beer after it! Href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTsG9nGbWBM" > description

I'm not sure that this is the same as above (in fact, it is different) but this is what I used when my brother and I did his roof last year. Honestly, take note of the weather thing, because we had unexpected rain and it really messed things up for us! href="https://homeguides.sfgate.com/seal-flat-roofs-37539.html" > description
