We've heard nothing but good things about using EPDM for a pitched roof but no one we know has ever heard of it or done it. Does anyone have any experience using EPDM for a pitched roof and how did it work?

Absolutely you can and in fact you can use EPDM on Flat Roofs and Extensions or any gutter lining. You can also use it on a garage roof or if you home has Balcony Flooring and Walkways. Shed roofs do well and even professional tree house builders use it on their roofs. There's a ton of training courses to teach you about roof membranes and give you information on how to install one. roofs.description.

A lot of you low pitch flat roof homeowners want to use EDPM on your roof. As with every material you use on your home there are good points and bad ones. EDPM does great with low-slope or low-pitch roofs and its very affordable. One of the advantages of a rubber roof is its cost. The cost of an EPDM roof is great when compared to most other types of roofing. But if you're thinking you can do this yourself you're wrong. You need a trained and certified installers with a verifiable track record of experience successfully installing EPDM roofing or small leaks can develop in your roof. description.

You can definitely use EPDM rubber on a pitched roof. There is a special EPDM rubber roof that's used for low pitched roof because the rubber membrane is incredibly versatile and easy to install on a wide range of surfaces and angles. Because EPDM is a synthetic rubber roofing membrane it makes it extremely lightweight and durable. It even lets you flex it or elongate it when needed during installation and use. description.

A low pitched roof is different from a high-pitch roof and ou didn't say which type of pitched roof you wanted to use EDPM on. A low-pitched has barely any pitch and barely drains water. The roof will look flat. High-pitch roofs are sharply angled and can have soaring peaks. If your house is low pitch you can use EDPM because its a true rubber. It can be applied to a roof with glue or mechanical anchors. description.

I wouldn't do it. EDPM has glue that dries up and fails in seven - ten years or sooner therefore your seams can come apart big time on your roof. Eventually your whole roof has water coming through it into your home. On top of everything else, the only thing you can do to prevent this from happening once its installed is delay the inevitable. So it's best to install some kind of seamless single-ply membrane, such as PVC or TPO and stay away from EDPM. description.
